This robust 6-cylinder engine generates up to 290 horsepower at peak torque, delivering unmatched driving performance.
To fully harness this powerful engine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is equipped with an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission. This advanced gearbox provides smooth and quick shifts, enhancing fuel efficiency and improving driving dynamics in various conditions and terrains.
With these outstanding performance specifications, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L perfectly combines power and efficiency, making it an excellent choice for drivers seeking an enjoyable and dynamic driving experience.
Designed inside and out to reflect its heritage and legacy, the Jeep design team envisioned a modern Jeep Grand Cherokee L and worked to give it a luxurious, elegant appearance that respects its roots and is entirely in tune with today’s customers. The exterior design includes the front grille tilted forward to emphasize the hood’s length. The most noticeable change in the Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s face is the new slim LED headlights, which are a key focal point that highlights the car’s artistic character. Additionally, the signature seven-slot grille has been updated to be more expansive with larger individual slots, defined by elegant trim that highlights the advanced lighting and emphasizes the vehicle’s width. The low beltline and extended glass from the side allow for a more spacious cabin and increased visibility. The new roofline design makes it appear to float, harmonizing with the new window moldings.
Continuing with its modern theme, the elegant and elevated LED taillights are designed to visually distribute the rear proportions and enhance the vehicle’s artistic side. The unique line just below the taillights provides visual comfort and transitions to the side of the car, unifying the rear and side body in a harmonious way. The vertical pillars added to the rear door help reduce road drag. A rear-view camera is neatly placed in the rear door spoiler, which also features a new LED stop lamp mounted at the top. Other rear elements include 20-inch wheels and more.

Established legacy of luxurious, capable Jeep SUVs
Built on over 80 years of legendary heritage, every Jeep vehicle has a remarkable lineage and unique personality. Each is authentic with class-leading capability and versatility. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is no exception. The initial debut of the Grand Cherokee set a new industry benchmark for luxury and capability and ushered in four celebrated generations that would lead to it becoming the most awarded SUV in history.
First-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ): 1993-1998
The Jeep Grand Cherokee made its now famous debut by crashing through the convention center glass at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 7, 1992. The first SUV equipped with a driver-side air bag, it set new standards for on-road ride, handling and comfort in an SUV. The 105.9-inch-wheelbase Grand Cherokee took refinement to a new level. A new Quadra-Coil suspension featured a coil/multilink configuration. A 5.2-liter V-8 engine was offered as an option and a Dana 44 rear axle was available for some models.
Second-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ): 1999-2004
The WJ a complete redesign. Only 127 parts carried over from its predecessor. A larger cabin with more room for rear passengers and larger doors increased comfort, and location of the controls for the driver were more conveniently located. A new feature included the automatic four-wheel drive option (Quadra-Drive) with a new transfer case. This two-speed, chain-driven transfer case used a gerotor, a clutch pack coupled to a hydraulic pump, to transfer torque between the front and rear axles. The transfer case contained three modes: 4-Lo, Neutral and 4-All Time (with 100 percent of torque distributed to the rear axle under normal conditions).
Third-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK): 2005-2010
A complete redesign of the ZJ/WJ, the all-new Grand Cherokee combined power, luxury and a significantly quieter, more comfortable ride. Jeep engineers worked hard to improve on-road refinement by adding a short/long-arm independent front suspension. The ground-up transformation continued with a choice of three power plants, including the mighty 330-horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine. The 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 featured a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 with 420 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, 20-inch lightweight forged wheels and four-piston Brembo brakes. The available full-time Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system featured front and rear limited slip differentials and a center differential-lock that operated in low-range.
Fourth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2): 2011-2023
All-new for 2011 and more than 4 million sales after the introduction of the first Grand Cherokee, Jeep improved the formula to deliver the perfect blend of on-road refinement and off-road capability, with improved fuel economy, a world-class interior, a sleek new exterior design and a host of safety and technology features. A Trailhawk model was introduced in 2017 with standard Quadra-Lift air suspension, the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system, all-terrain tires and a Skid Plate Package. The new Trackhawk was released as the quickest and most powerful SUV ever. It boasted a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 engine, modified engine cooling, high-performance Brembo brake system and Launch mode for an incredible track performance.
