Frankfurt am Main, Germany – Messe Frankfurt, the organizer behind the world-renowned Automechanika brand, is accelerating its global expansion in the automotive sector with three major new events. The company announced the addition of Automechanika Jakarta and Automechanika Baku to its trade fair portfolio, along with a new Festival of Motoring in Sydney, Australia.
Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, emphasized the strategic growth: “The automotive industry is undergoing a massive transformation, and trade fairs have proven to be vital catalysts for innovation. With around 40 events already in our global network, we continue to connect leading companies and emerging players in new and promising markets.”
Automechanika Expands to Azerbaijan
The first Automechanika Baku will take place from 3 to 5 March 2027, marking a major milestone for the Caucasus region. Stephan Kurzawski, Senior Vice President of Messe Frankfurt, described Azerbaijan as a key logistics hub on the New Silk Road, offering direct access to European markets for manufacturers in China and Turkey.
The new show is organized by Tajsir Expo LLC, a joint venture between Business Media Central Asia and Iteca Caspian—both major players in the regional trade fair industry. With Azerbaijan’s automotive market growing rapidly—car imports surged 26.4% between January and August 2025—the event aims to become a central meeting point for regional automotive professionals.
Automechanika Heads to Jakarta
Following the success of its events in Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City, Messe Frankfurt is adding Jakarta to its Southeast Asian roster. The first Automechanika Jakarta will debut from 24 to 27 September 2026 at the new Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), in collaboration with the Automotive Parts & Components Industries Association (GIAMM).
Indonesia, with its population of 280 million and position as the largest automotive market in Southeast Asia, offers enormous growth potential. In 2025, the country expects sales of 900,000 cars and up to 6.7 million motorcycles, while exports of finished vehicles continue to soar. Analysts predict Indonesia’s automotive aftermarket could double in value over the next decade, reaching USD 64 billion by 2035.
Festival of Motoring Comes to Sydney
In addition to its trade fairs, Messe Frankfurt is also bringing its crowd-favorite Festival of Motoring to Australia for the first time. The event will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park from 20 to 22 November 2026.
Since its launch in Johannesburg in 2016, the festival has become a magnet for motorsport fans, showcasing everything from supercars and classic vehicles to the latest in electric and hybrid technology. The Sydney edition is being organized in partnership with Michel Malik, CEO of BodyShop News International and producer of the popular radio show The World on Wheels.
“Bringing the Festival of Motoring to Sydney has been a long-term dream,” said Malik. “Sydney Motorsport Park, with its world-class facilities, is the perfect venue for this celebration of passion, performance, and innovation.”
A Global Network for a Changing Industry
With these new additions, Messe Frankfurt reinforces its role as a global leader in automotive events, providing platforms for innovation, networking, and market expansion across every continent.
