Cairo, Egypt – In a landmark move marking a new chapter in its 45-year journey, Toyota Egypt Group has officially announced its entry into Egypt’s electric vehicle market for the first time, unveiling two fully electric models: the Toyota bZ4X and the Lexus RZ.
The launch reinforces the Group’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s sustainability goals and national efforts to reduce carbon emissions by accelerating the adoption of electric mobility solutions.
Ahmed Monsef, CEO of Toyota Egypt Group, described the launch as a significant milestone for the company, emphasizing that both models reflect the highest levels of Japanese engineering and technological innovation. He noted that the vehicles rely entirely on authentic Japanese expertise, from manufacturing to battery technology, ensuring exceptional standards of precision, quality, and reliability.
Monsef added that Toyota Egypt’s decades-long leadership in the local market is now evolving toward future-focused mobility solutions that embody the advanced capabilities of Japanese automotive engineering.
The event also highlighted the growing ties between Egypt and Japan. H.E. Fumio Iwai, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, stated that the launch symbolizes the strong partnership between the two nations, particularly in areas of technology, sustainability, and innovation. He praised Toyota Egypt Group for introducing advanced and environmentally responsible mobility solutions that reflect Japan’s philosophy of continuous improvement.
Advanced Japanese Technology and Electric Performance
Both the Toyota bZ4X and Lexus RZ are built on Toyota’s advanced e-TNGA electric platform and feature fully Japanese-manufactured battery systems developed to deliver high efficiency, smart charging capabilities, and long-term reliability.
The Toyota bZ4X is offered in two variants: the Sport FWD and the Premier AWD. Both are equipped with a 73 kWh battery produced through a collaboration between Toyota and Panasonic in Japan. The model supports DC fast charging in approximately 30 minutes and delivers a driving range of up to 567 km under WLTP standards.
Performance figures position the bZ4X among the leading electric SUVs in its segment, with the AWD version producing 343 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The vehicle also integrates Toyota’s X-MODE off-road system and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 advanced safety technologies.
Toyota further underscored its confidence in the model’s durability by guaranteeing battery efficiency of no less than 70% after 10 years of use.
Lexus RZ Brings Luxury and Dynamic Innovation
The Lexus RZ lineup includes the Executive e350 FWD and the high-performance F Sport e550 AWD. Powered by a 77 kWh Japanese battery, the luxury SUV offers a driving range of up to 508 km for the FWD version and 450 km for the AWD variant.
The RZ 550e F Sport delivers 408 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Lexus has also introduced advanced technologies including Steer-by-Wire with a Formula-inspired Yoke steering wheel, Interactive Manual Drive, and the DIRECT4 intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
Inside, the cabin combines premium craftsmanship with advanced digital features, including a 14-inch infotainment display, Dynamic Ambient Lighting, and a 3D Digital Panoramic Monitor system.
Safety technologies are integrated through the Lexus Safety Sense 3+ package, featuring a suite of intelligent driver assistance systems designed to enhance comfort, reduce fatigue, and maximize protection in daily driving conditions.
Comprehensive Warranty and Charging Solutions
Toyota Egypt Group confirmed that both models will be supplied with emergency tire repair kits, Type 1 and Type 2 charging cables, and — for a limited period — a home charging unit to provide customers with a complete charging experience.
The company also announced an extensive warranty package covering the battery, electric motors, and main power unit for 8 years or 160,000 km, in addition to a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty covering the rest of the vehicle components for both Toyota and Lexus models.
